Behind-the-Scenes of the Sister Pie Interlude
It’s been six weeks since we made the (temporary) change.
I promise this Substack won’t only be pictures taken on Belle Isle, but some of it absolutely will be.
The beginning of June was mostly a blur —
…long lines and long hours, big feelings, and not a moment to pause and reflect. I kept saying to myself, “you should really be journaling,” but at the end of each day I crashed hard. It was a familiar exhaustion, hearkening back to the spring of April 2015, when the shop first opened and I was a thirty-one-year old dreamer with less oven burn scars and what felt like an endless supply of energy. Ten years and many (physical and mental) battle wounds later, the electricity had returned…just in time to completely switch gears, slow down, and figure out to radically re-approach my business. Ha!
Filled to the brim with gratitude, the Sister Pie interlude began. And so it goes.
Okay, cool. So what’s going to happen on this substack?
A whole bunch of creativity is the hope! I plan to post recipes, share our Sister Pie 2030 vision (once we have the final draft done in a couple weeks), film a video or two, and generally share with you what’s going on behind-the-scenes during our interlude.
Some content will be free, but we’ll have a more “all-access” situation for paid subscribers…because those overhead bills aren’t gonna pay themselves. We appreciate all the help we can get, and however that works for you is exactly what we need. Thank you for being here.
love, lisa
